CfP: Bangladesh Studies Network Meeting

The conference will take place on the 7th and 8th of June 2018.

We would ask you to arrive on the afternoon of the 6th if possible. We are planning a welcome reception with musical presentation on the evening of the 6th. The workshop will run over the full days of the 7th and 8th and we’d hope you’ll all stick around for them. We are planning a number of activities around the core programme of paper presentations and we will let you know once they are confirmed.

We invite everyone who would like to present their work at the workshop to send us a title. If you would like to chair a session or be a discussant, or just attend, we are also very happy to welcome you, be do let us know. As we need to know numbers of attendees for catering purposes, it would be great if you could let us know if you are planning to attend as soon as possible, but by April 15th latest.

Alongside the paper presentations, we are also excited to hear about other forms of work you have been doing. If you have films, photographs, audio or non-academic writing that you’d like to show or present, drop us a line and we will try to facilitate showing your work.

The workshop will take place at the School of Social and Political Science, Chrystal Macmillan Building, 15a George Square, Edinburgh EH8 9LD, UK. There are many accommodation options around the university and George Square. We can facilitate booking accommodation at Pollock Halls, which is about 10 minutes walk from the venue and beautifully located at the foot of our volcano, Arthur’s Seat. Ensuite rooms with breakfast are between £64 and £70 a night. We can facilitate reservations at these university discount prices. Please drop us a line by April 15th if you would like us to do so. There are also plenty of B&Bs, airbnb, hostels and hotels around the city.

Travel to Edinburgh is either through Edinburgh Airport or the train station Edinburgh Waverley. The nearest other airports are Glasgow and Newcastle, both connected by bus and train.

Anyone who needs a visa to enter the UK and needs an invitation letter, please get in touch and we can facilitate and advise.

Warm wishes,

Delwar Hussain
